You may pat yourself on the back for attending your annual Medicare wellness visit. You may even (if you are a client of The Garrett Law Firm) carry a wallet card labeled “My Medical Documents” with your medical care documents. Have you added family, physician and pharmacy contact information? Have you added your medical history, your allergies and your prescriptions?

I hope you have.

Your birthday or your annual Medicare wellness visit is a good time to update these.

Has someone named in your Medical Power of Attorney moved? Do they have a new telephone number?

Are you taking any new meds? Have you stopped taking any (per doctor’s orders)?

Are you seeing any new doctors or therapists or a new dietician? Why? What is their name and contact information?

Getting the best care we can rests on taking good care of ourselves. Keeping an up-to-date record will remind us, and tell others, what we have and point them in the direction of what we might need.
