A 2020 survey conducted by AARP revealed more than 50 million Americans now serve as unpaid caregivers to their adult family members or friends.
As baby boomers age, that number will rise.
The Harris-Biden campaign included an ambitious caregiving plan in their platform. The Biden administration is showing promise with the coronavirus emergency relief plan that includes some caregiver benefits. The campaign proposed other relief for child care, care for older people, paid care work and family caregivers.
